hi ppl
i hav a 80GB seagate 7200.9 series under warranty.
the problem is that i am getting very slow transfer speeds frm it.4-5Mb/s.
booting takes ages though I hav 1GB kinston ddr2 and X2 3600+
can u help me resolve this.
checked it on PCpitstop and it says the same.

check the hdd cable, seems faulty; change it and then see if it works

oh yeah, maybe dma is disabled or maybe the hdd is optimized for qucik removal, that sometimes causes slow transfers on nvidia chipset

Check in device manager if it running in DMA mode and NOT in PIO mode. If it is in PIO mode then from device manager you have to uninstall the channel to which the HDD is attached and reboot... on reboot the HDD will be set to DMA mode.

its in dma mode..

i'll check the cable. lets hope its the cble and i dont have to run fer replacement.

thanks fer the help

Make sure the cable is a 80 wire ATA100 cable and not a 40 wire ATA33 cable.

run windows scan disk and check if there r any bad sectors, if there is even a single bad sector, since it is in warranty replace it immediatly
