Recently we have had some inquires and OCZ would like to openly clarify the circumstances surrounding the substitution of Samsung TCCD for TCC5 in the renowned OCZ Platinum series memory. Following the lack of availability of TCCD chips, OCZ replaced TCCD chips with TCC5 chips on its Platinum DDR modules. Concerned enthusiasts that are seeing lower maximum overclocks with recently purchased PC-3200 EL Platinum Rev. 2 are assuming this is due to a difference in the performance potential of the new chips.

hope masky got his TCCD.....

when you bring the memory from abroad the warranty is useless.
And its a memory, one of the last thing that can die on you. Thats why these companies offer lifetime warranty on memory.

Well you can always send it back thru a friend if something goes wrong ;). Lots of things can go wrong with the ram if you use UTT and the 5V jumper on DFI... just check dfi-street and u'll know :)

OCZ EL Plat Rev 2 with TCC5 are labeled Rev 2 V1.1, and this information is apparently printed on the sticker.

HeHe, couple of other memory makers may have shifted either partly or fully to TCC5.

I am soo tempted to rip off the heat spreader.. but i guess i'll wait till i get a reply from OCZ.. :D (that reminds me, i gotta mail them first..)

But why is TCCD going out of production??? It was an amazing product and sold in huge quantities.....

And why so soon???

The Winbond BH 5 is old but still selling well.....

^^ gr8 link there bro.. i went thru a few posts there and there is a ton of info in there already.. :D..

tnx for sharing the link.. repped ya for it :)

Yo Masky,

My PDP XBLK is gonna land here next week - ha Touch Wood ! Just had that confirmed this evening. I had kind of made up my mind to buy it when it was the cheapest TCCD RAM around - was selling for $225 - and before the OCZ price started plummeting.

Now if my PDP gets here, turns out to be TCCD, and overclocks better than your OCZ, your most welcome to swap your OCZ with my PDP. Seriously and absolutely without any hesitation :) ! And if you change your mind and want to swap it again, you're very welcome to do that too !

But chances are even the PDP may not be TCCD according to rumors, though Monarch from where I ordered it seems to be still selling the TCCD versions.

Wud ya exchange ur $225 memory to my $200 memory?.. how about we swap the mobo (A8Ne to DFI nF4 U) too..

yeah even pdp isnt a sure thing.. i read about someone who needed to give it 3.3v to the same xblk that i have before it was stable at 270mhz

HeHe ! I actually ended up paying only $198. If you recall I was impressed when you highlighted the fact that PDP is rated at 566. I was looking for such a spec. and latched on to it.

Yo Man ! You'll prolly enjoy that RAM much more than I do. So it's up for grabs if you need it. BUT my biggest hassle will be if it turns out to be a lemon. And if it does turn out that way, as I said we could swap back. No hassles whatsoever :P ! And don't worry if you end up blowing my PDP. I can always find someone to get one over or get one myself when I go up there next time.

Muahaha ! just read what Bottle said above. If that's the case you're better of with OCZ. The TCC5 are actually doing quite good, prolly a li'l more volts, and has the best OCZ support. And as I said before, TCC5 + Venice may turn o ut to be better than TCCD + Venice as the rumor goes.

Now, have you started burning in your RAM yet ? Waiting to see some oc soon :P

Firstly, thou shalt not lead me into temptation :P
ok.. need some tips here.. what do i do to burn-in the RAM?

hey guys.. i was going thru the XS thread and cross-checked with my memory!! Mine has v1.1 printed too... lol..

i badly wanted TCCD b'coz those OC well with less voltage.. my A8NE gives me 3V only.. and TCC5s need something like 3.1V to OC high.. tough luck? or a blessing in disguise.. only time will tell :ohyeah:

this is the pic in question.. :D notice the v1.1 mentioned on the sticker..

I'm assuming that the CPU is already burned in. I usually don't do anything rash (yeah preaching is easy right :P ) for the first day atleast. Run Memtest for a few hours atleast to check the RAM out first - I say Memtest (before someone jumps on me :S) bcoz you can enable it from the DFI BIOS.

Then you could run Prime95 memory Torture Test - the option that taxes your memory more than the CPU. Keep the case cool and let it run overnight. Repeat prolly if you feel like it before you start pumping in volts into the RAM. I'm not sure whether burn in helps TCCD; it prolly might help TCC5.

That's about what I can think of. May be the TCCD or VX guys can add more :) .
