folks, it's raining cameras this season.after nikon d3100 , canon eos 60d & sony slt's its other manufacturers who are showcasing their new stuff. pentax has recently announced Kr dslr and olympus has come up with E5.canon has today announced SX30IS, another one of its popular superzooms (35x zoom range)!!!!:S
looks like users are going to be spoilt for choice. though my only complaint is that it takes months for new products to hit indian markets which is regrettable.

What I really want is an affordable full frame camera with awesome low light capability.

5d Mark II IQ + 7d auto focus, weather sealing and wireless tx + some improvements + sub 2400$ price is what I long ...

^^ Naah i dont want such a expensive camera..... Its the photograph tht counts not the camera....

I would rather buy a normal DSLR and spend the rest on travelling to location to get the shot ....

@blufox: thats quite a wish!

Btw nikon today announced much anticipated d7000.with price tag of nearly 1300 pounds, its definitely not going to be as popular as expected.

Well ...the D7000 is a successor to the D90 and has awesome features and is being appreciated world over. Priced at 1200$ in the US, this camera would be giving a beating to 60D and the d300's.

Interesting developments to say the least.

60D has few features taken out / reduced. Like no magnesium alloy body, lower fps (thought 6fps was pretty neat).

D7000 looks very good on paper. D300 was way out of budget, but this looks real sweet in terms of price and features.

As new models are announced & the competition gets heated up, what's next to expect? Well,it's obvious: price war.

Coming weeks might well see reduction or shall i say correction in prices of several models.

Canon 500D now listed below 35k at jjmehta!

Its time to buy new dslr for many who have been waiting.

I have used a full frame (Nikon D700), and at-least I was blown away by some of the features. But yeah, I get your gist, it will be a long time before I will get a full frame body as not only the body is expensive, but it will render a lot of your current lenses obsolete (though it will be in my wish list for a long time :) ) Hopefully Canon would reduce the price on 7D's body.

@Vercetti: I would also look at Canon 50D, the prices have reduced considerably in US, to give it a good VFM status. I am not sure of the Nikkor lenses, but the new Canon L lenses are simply mind-blowing. Dont jump on the body alone, but save up for good lenses. It's similar to getting an Core i7 for gaming, but finding out you just have money for a low-end graphics card..

Pentax K5 seems less impressive compared to say the Nikon D7000,they basically have the same sensor as the Sony A580/A55 ,Nikon D7000.

GH2 looks goods claims to have the worlds fastest auto focus.Would have been priced a lot higher had it not been for Sony SLT.

was expecting to hear about nikon's EVIL cam today.. thought they might reveal it today.. lets hope they do it at photokina itself.. they still gave a few days left..

^No more announcements in photokina.

Nikon and pentax are the companies that have a tough future, olympus made a smart move to go m4/3,its 4/3 mount is pretty much dead.

The future will be SLD(single lens direct) with contrast detect auto focus and EVF.Sony and Panasonic are on the right track.

^^ You may be true, but the interchangeable lens (includes body + lens) market is more or less controlled by Nikon and Canon atm..

Well even canon and nikon will eventually will have to go SLD.Now is the time for Sony and Panasonic to cash in some users.

These companies can never capture enough market share with conventional DSLR.If Sony had launched a weather sealed A7xx rival to nikon D7000 basically the same features and sensors, how many would actually buy the Sony A7xx.So unless they offer something different they can't steal the market share from canikon.Hence you seen Sony announcing the future advanced camera to be in SLT and SLD path.

Panasonic will also take a huge chunk out of canikon share with the GH2.You can see in dpreview forums many DSLR owners including 1d and 5d owners who sold are planning to sell their gear ,since all they use now is a NEX or a M4/3 camera.

Within 5 years OVF ,perhaps even mechanical shutter will be a thing of the past.We will probably see cameras with FF sensor with APS-C size bodies.

^^ That would be the day :) It's always nice to have more competition, the only problem is the range/availability of 3rd party lens. But I reckon once Sony/Panasonic start selling good numbers you will have Tamron/Sigma and the likes having all the mounts for their ranges.

However if you see a camera gear of enthusiasts the lens make up a lot of the bulk factor, not sure how a smaller body is gonna solve that issue? At this point though, especially in India I would be wary of venturing out of Canikon...

Yes competition is always good:).Panasonic and Sony make their own sensors, batteries and lcd for the cameras. So they can make some good bodies, its the huge lens line and pro weather sealed lens thats are lacking .

With cameras like the NEX which have a really short flange-sensor distance it makes possible to mount virtually any lens designed for canon, nikon, pentax, leica etc with some cheap $40 adaptors (offcourse with manual controls),thats the reason its becoming very popular.

The head of Sony image division said to imagingresource that Sony proactively supports the development of third-party lenses and adaptors for the E-mount. "Sony would release full engineering specifications for the E-mount to third party adapter makers; a pretty unusual stance in an industry where manufacturers tend to jealously guard such information."

So we will see more third party adaptors that may have offer functions like autofocus on other NON-Sony lenses.

Well i wouldn't mind a smaller body, even the enthusiasts may want a secondary small camera. In india M4/3 never took off,i guess thats the reason sony hasn't launched the NEX and their high lenses prices isn't helping.
