The next year or so is going to be fun for observers and hell for actual buyers. What with all the new processors, platforms, GPUs, operating systems, etc.

I doubt there's ever been a time like this ! Have fun !

Don't you miss the time when you could just say "Buy a A64 and A8N-E", and maybe add "Make sure sure it's a Venice".

It is actually the best of times for buyers....they are getting better and better stuff at lower and lower rates.

You know why C2D will still do better than AM2 no matter what AMD throws at them in the form of ReverseHT? Because the power consumption is lower. That means that all the Laptop, media centre and even data centre CPUs will have a big incentive to go in that direction. Status quo, in other words.

As for GPUs it is all the same - one day NVidia produces a sucky series, next day ATI does.
