LAN port unstable

Hi

I have a GA M61PME-S2P motherboard. And since I overclocked it started to show troubles on the LAN port.
The LAN port intermittently goes off and come back to right. But am still not sure if this is cuz of overclocking or just the mobo is crappy.

Thanks

I've experienced the same problem with my previous board - a Gigabyte G31-ES2L. Whenever I happened to overclock the system, the LAN controller is disabled and doesn't show up in Windows. Upon searching it on the web, I came across this issue reported by others and wasn't addressed by Gigabyte AFAIK. Not even with a BIOS update later.

Your best bet is an additional PCI LAN card and disable the onboard LAN.

try installing its driver from vendor's site. It happened to me a couple of times, when the LAN driver is detected by the OS without installing the proper one. It seems to work for sometime, but it frequently disconnects and after a while it automatically connect. Installing the driver solved the issue. Also it wasnt showing 1GBps upon connecting to a gigabit switch, and 1/10 times it shows 1Gbps. With proper driver it working like a charm in 1Gbps.

If that doesnt solve the issue, get a PCI LAN card for 200/-. Gigabit cards are expensive, and you wont need it unless you are connecting it to a Gigabit network switch. 10/100 NIC is enough for normal LAN and internet connectivity.

Also i thik you havnt touched the PCI base click during OCing, as changing that from default 200mhz might render most PCI cards dead.

Does overclocking damage the PCI ex16 slot too,cuz whenever I put my olg gfx card into it,it doesn't work either. Now I don't know weather it's the PCIe slot or the gfx thats gone wrong. Is there any app to check if the PCIe slot is alive?

^The recommended PCI-E freq. is 100 MHz unless it is set to Auto in the BIOS. And maybe a few bumps are permitted for stability but otherwise no damage is being done to the PCI-E slot.

Oops, my bad. It was 100 Mhz as gannu said:)
