my first post this year! I need a new laptop, I have a mid-range rig that i use for all my work, but i cant take it anywhere. I will pull the trigger next week. it should last well enough to function as a video player after 2 years.

Note- I will avoid Gamery designed laptops, love gaming but most of them look dumb af and industrial design will be appropriate for my scenario.

In short-

75-80K budget
6gen i5 / ryzen 5 at least
6/8gb ram or less w/ room for upgrade
one USB C port (for external keyboard)
5+ hour battery
13-15 inch
multitasking primarily

What's your Budget? (e.g. >30K, not more than 50K, etc.)
  • 75k ideally, 80K stretched.
What will be your primary usage for the notebook be? (e.g. web surfing/office apps/Casual Gaming)
  • A lot of multitasking 20tabs, 4-5 background apps.
  • taking a lot of notes & office 365
  • occasional ps, Lightroom,
  • hours of audio recording with audacity daily
  • web browsing
  • I have no plans to game on my laptop
What size and weight considerations do you have? (e.g. Do you want a 17" desktop replacement or you want an ultraportable 12" or something in between)
  • 13-15" ideally not more than that, lightweight and not exceptionally thick
Any other considerations? (e.g Battery life; Widescreen/non-widescreen; Glossy/Matte screen etc.)

I checked out MacBook air, but the one in my budget is 2017 model and I would take other options into account before buying it.

any opinion of Microsoft surface?
