i am planning to buy a laptop within a month or two.( can wait a little longer)

what is this core duo talk going around in threads.laptops with core duo are available right now, correct?.

is merom same as core duo .
if not when will it be released?

^ Yes Laptops with Core Duo are already available. "Yonah" is the name of the core in the Core Duo chips.

Merom is not the same as Core Duo. Its the next generation successor to the Core Duo/Yonah proc and will be branded as "Core 2 Duo".

Conroe is the Desktop equivalent of Merom.

Its slated to be released sometime in the 2H of this year.

DELL has the 6300 which is core duo based. Priced around Rs. 50K

I thought Conroe was July? Woodcrest is releasing in June, and Merom is supp to be August.
