Laptops laptop recommendations please

my dad wants to buy a new laptop, so i m here luking for some recommendations from u guys

budget: 35-40k all inclusive (max) including OS.
primary usage: office work, ms office, net usage, data mantainence, etc.
should b light weigt : 14" will b sufficient
Brand: no particular choice. but should provide gud warrant and after sales service. wud not prefer dell since i cant afford to wait for 3 weeks after i buy it before i can use it
other considerations: excellent battery life, widescreen, atleast 1gb ram, core duo (if possible), vista as OS
 
What you want is the Dell Inspiron 1420. Ideal specs and price for your requirements.

Go to www.dell.co.in - Notebooks - Home - Inspiron 1420. Customize it, call the Dell rep and bargain like hell. No upgrades are necessary from the basic config given your requirements but you might want to add a laptop bag and/or a 3 year complete cover warranty.
 
why not an amd turion x2, more than enough power for the tasks you have mentioned.

compaq v6608au(amd turion x2 1.9Ghz, 1gb ram, 15.4" ws, 160gb, dvdrw, vista basic) costs arnd 34k(with taxes+targus case)..

for 14", u can have alook at 3711au/tu(not sure abt the model no though) with rest of the config almost the same . Cost arnd - 31k.
 
HP support is not crap, they have the best compared to dell. Dell is overrated. HP is the best PC you can buy. HP > Dell.

For that kind of money (If I'm not mistaking what you said), you can get any laptop you want. budget: 35-40k all inclusive (max) including OS? 35-40,000? k.

This is the best laptop that can be made. You can do anything with it, it's the god of all laptops. I'm getting one myself soon.

Incase you didn't realise, his budget was 40k INR (= USD 1k) and out here in India, Dell Support >> HP :)
