Laptops Laptops Suggestions and Queries ?

Well I am going to complete 12 . So I thought of getting myself a Lappy.. I will be using it with Linux do not worry about it Also there is Centrino 2 .. Should I wait for it ? It looks tempting.. as 45nm will provide more battery life and less heat .. and better performance ofcourse//

If I should go for Centrino 2 .Please give me details about its release and when laptops with Centrino 2 will be released in India ?

Now some brands queries.. If I should buy go for a lappy now.. which 1 to opt for Dell XPS/1525 HD or Hp.. Hp laptops are damn costly for the config. they offer .. Is there a way to configure Hp laptops ?

What should I looks for in a Laptop, if I will buy it before Centrino 2 ? Should I go for T7XXX series with 800 Mhz FSB or T52XX series with 667 MHZ FSB ?

Please help me am damn confused about it.. Should I wait or should I buy it right away.. Also what other things should I look for like GPU , Battery , cooling solutions ? .. I will be buying a laptop with 60k max.. It will be used for atleast 4/5 years during my engg period, I am more into coding stuff so Coding is the basic work I'll be doing apart for regular Internet , Music and Video , it must have some power so that it can perform later on ..

Also will it be wise to get a Desktop with same price tag /? New games enthralled me sometimes ...

I am looking for ..

  1. 15" Incher
  2. 2Gb ram
  3. Intel T2750 for sure. can get higher if in budget..
  4. 250 Gb Hard Disk
  5. nVIDIA GPU , though not necessary but still would be worth if added :) What say/???
  6. Max budget is 60k

I am eyeing at this Buy Notebook PCs available in different series direct from the HP Home & Home Office Store

What so special about special edition ? I mean same DV6700 was available at much lower price after configuration while the same in special edition costed $500 more than the normal variant :S?
 
if ur running linux, then look for something in intel without a dedicated graphics card. i am having problems installing ubuntu on my amd +nvidia laptop.

I'll be going for Dedicated GPU .. I need to feel it yet :P :rofl: and configuring GPU in Linux isn't big deal for me ::P
 
I think you should wait a bit..The current line up in the market has lived its life..

what to look for??
well looks, config, portablity, and ofcourse wat u'l be using it for..

one thing i learnt from my laptop buying exp was that, you need to see wat components are being put in the laptop, specific to the model number..

Take my vostro 1400 for instance, the sound is sigmatel9228 which is a B***h to configure..and does nothav drivers for linux etc..
Best would be to go to hackintosh forums and see the most supported and most working models. If mac works on them then anything will..
 
Why wait for the "Centrino 2" brand which I believe is just a marketing/paper launch? I think you can get some Dell and HP models with 45nm today. Just look up the processor number (T7xxx or such) and compare on say Wikipedia list to check if it's 45nm and buy away!

If you want to have some REAL fun playing with Linux config, get an HP tablet :P I have the tx1302au and always enjoy struggling to get the touchscreen and fingerprint reader working heh...

The upcoming tx2000 series will have a better active digitizer on the touchscreen which means you can do easy handwriting. My current model you can only do basic tapping/clicking, hard to do handwriting...

Just my 2 cents...
