Monitors LCD for gaming - Non HD

Spectre

Skilled
Guys,
One of my friend needs a monitor for gaming. He is putting together a PC for gaming, after a long long time
He will need something in budget and it should last for a while (atleast 2 years). I will getting these stuff for him

I want to first decide on monitor, as i consider the resolution highly dictates the rest of the config

Now, whatever monitor i look @ 22+ inchers, they are all full HD resolutions, which will need a powerful gfx card to game for the time frame he is looking for
I want some LCD which can run 1600*900 or 1680*1050 resolutions. For this I can settle for a sub 9K cards which i can fit in his budget.
Else, I will have to look @ 19 inchers

What do you suggest, If you want to contradict my thoughts here, please do so by all means. I just want to find the right choice here

Monitor Budget - Less than 10K

TIA

A 9k card like HD5770 is Okish for HD resolution for now. But an year down the line it wont stay the same.Have to play at lower resolutions ir have to turn off few settings. If you are ok with that go with the 22" full HD monitor. Else u can go for the 20" ones. 19"(18.5) mostly have 1366*768 resoultion.

20" monitors have 1600*900 resolution. Most 22" now in the market are Full HD only. 1680*1050 is almost obsolete.
Dell S2009W ~ 6.5k (in Delhi) Delta site says 6.9k
Samsumg B2030 ~ 6.9k. 7.1k in Delta

Both are decent 20" monitors.

For GFX get a MSI HD5770 HAWK~9.6k/ Sapphire HD5770 1GB GDDR5 ~ 9.5k.

dei have a look at the AOC 22" as dark suggested you can get a HD 5770 and do just fine in HD reslotuion also you still game at 1680X1050 on the aoc moniter and it cost like 8400.

^^Price is decent for a LED backlight monitor. But i am not sure about their A.S.S.
Viewsonic was once one of the big players in LCD monitor market in the early days(3-4 yrs back). But now they have fallen to the back of the pack.
Check for reviews and double check the A.S.S. (As you are in Chennai it shouldn't be that much an issue).

Else you can go for Benq 22" G2220HD ~ 8k or Dell 22" ST2210 ~ 9k.

Even if you get a full hd monitor, theres no compulsion to run the games at the highest rez possible.
If a 22" monitors got a resolution of 1920*1080, and you're gaming at 1600*900, it'll look very similar to gaming at native resolution on a 22" monitor with a max resolution of only 1600*900.
My advice, don't skimp on the monitor, get the biggest, highest resolution one you can afford, as it'll be the last thing you upgrade, and it'll contribute most to your gaming experience.

Go for dell ST2210 with your budget, its one of the best display and good after sale service

supported resolutions:

480i/480p/576i/576p/720p/1080i/1080p

VESA, 800 x 600

VESA, 1024 x 768
