Monitors LCD monitor as TV(ocassional)

I own a Dell E1909W monitor and looking forward to add an internal tv tuner card and buy videocon d2h, the reason is that i dont have more space for tv in my room and sometimes i miss out my fav eng tv series/movies/football matches.
I am just worried if i occasionally use my monitor as tv will it hurt the life of the monitor drastically or to some extent? My viewing distance is ~6ft. Th monitor is just 3 months old.
If there is no problem then please recommend me some good internal tv tuner cards(<1.5k)
 
As far as i am aware, the life of a LCD monitor depends upon the life of the backlight or the lamps. Otherwise, the LCD will be just fine.

Watching TV won't deteriorate the life and neither will po**. :p

So, go ahead and fix a tuner card and enjoy TV. :eek:hyeah:

Get a Avermedia Tuner Card or best a Hauppage PVR-150 if you plan on using less than 4GB RAM. There is no better package than the Hauppage when it comes to HTPC with the included media center remote. :)

Add to it, it can also control your videocon DTH.
 
watching tv on it wont affect the life of it, i use my lcd monitor all the time for tv use and its bine 2 years without any problems
