@ smoky - for watching movies nd tv channels of course

i don,t wanna opt for plasma ,s ( something energy efficient ) , ...... so wht wud be best LCD option in that range....any brand

@Harman: Lets talk bit by bit.

1. If you are going to use the panel for SD (TV Viewing ) and Movies (SD/HD) plasma might be a better choice.

2. Power consumption: it is a debatale issue. LCDs are backlit so the bulb will consume power for the entire period. Plasmas "glow" per pixel so if you are viewing a mostly white scene for the entire time yes the plasma might consume more power. However the fact is most movies, wont have all bright scenes its a balance of dark n light scenes so the power consumtion wont be that glaring an issue.

This about this: Are you buying a TV for earning a energy star rating? Or for pure viewing pleasure? Take your call.

3. Have you seen the PV8 dada mentioned above? I recommend not being biased and actually taking a good look at the suggested option.

In the end let your eyes decide it for you rather than ur heart or brain.

PS: I am not a plasma fanboi, i infact was a lcd fanboi till i actually saw the PV8/80 and the almighty Kuro in action.

i wud like to view this Beauty with various angles , any videos or pics url of that , any review of the PV8 42

Ya for your needs, plasma is clearly the better option.Unless you wanna watch cnn or for that matter cnbc all day along, or use your tv as a computer monitor or hook up your ps3 or xbox360, plasma is the way to go.Besides SD and dvds look better on plasma.

Like others have suggested go for Panasonic PV8.

Plasma which is heavy weight and goes phut anytime without any notice is obsoleting and it is prudent to go for LCD only in any case.

Following may clear the things. Due to susceptibility of burn in, plasma may go phut. I have seen two such instances where Plasma went out of order within a use of little more than a year. Even though there may be very few such cases but risk of burn in cant be ignored. Regarding weight, certainly, LCD has light weight.

Plasma vs. LCD: Six things you need to know - TVs

Burn in is a non existent problem now. You might get image retention for a while if something static is on screen but burn in is not a problem.
