One of my friend has Lenovo Z580 purchased last year running Windows 8 - it is within warranty. Yesterday suddenly it is showing Recovery screen with error message 0x0000000d stating - "Your PC needs repair. Boot configuration data file is missing some required information."
Since this is in warranty, I prefer Lenovo sorting out whatever the issue is - AFAIK, Windows Boot Manager have developed some issues. I tried to boot Linux 12.04 live disk, so can extract some data related to his work. However laptop is not even booting via Pen Drive, although in BIOS we have changed Boot Priority.
Any way getting data and restoring laptop to its normal state without going to Lenovo ?
PS: He have not made any recovery disc(s) nor we have key of Windows 8 which came with it
