This seems really odd but I have been logged into TE over last 2 weeks. On the machine I am using Opera 11.64 to access TE from office.

The first time I didn't log out and just closed the browser, shutdown the machine and left.

Next day opened the site and saw I was still logged in despite the fact that I had logged in and out from home.

Now, I need not login to TE because I am logged in and not logging out because I want to see how long this continues but seriously something is wrong out here.

Is this happening to anybody else?

check your browser security settings, in firefox there is an option to leave active logins maybe similar feature there in opera

Yep, same for me... i logged in to my account 2 weeks ago and i didn't logout . This is due to active login supported by most of the web browser.
Its not a big issue to me coz i mainly use TE on my pc only, not on any shared computer. So, i preferred it to be always logged in.

I remember before the TE upgrade to vBulletin, it would automatically logout when the browser window is closed(or after certain period of inactivity). So, this might be due to new script over which TE is now running that it keeps active login.

Couldn't find anything on Active Login in Opera. I used to close the browser without logging out a number of times and it always used to log me out it is just since the last few days it hasn't done so. I haven't tried the same thing on another pc.

Its exactly how cookies work. Just try deleting them and you will be log out without exiting the browser.

Clearing the cookies is not the problem but cookies keeping a user logged in on a system can cause problems especially if used from a cyber cafe where the power suddenly and the user leaves. Why doesn't the server maintain a session for the user?

This is how the 'Remember Me' option works. It looks like the default login bar at the top is automatically selecting Remember Me. Will notify the admins about this :)

You can get around it for now by entering a wrong login, so it gives you the default vB login page. Then deselect the Remember Me option. Tested in IE8 and it doesn't remember you after the browser is closed.
