Hi,
How does one make a PC, bluetooth compatible ? e.g. I have a cellphone which is Bloutooth enabled, but i cannot connect it to a PC as my PC does not have any bluetooth.

What is the solution and cost associated with it?

Thanks in advance

What you need is a Bluetooth dongle. Plug it into your USB port and you're set to go.

Not sure about current prices, but i guess it should be less than 1k?

Edit: Ebay has loads of the generic ones for ~300 bucks.

Higher quality ones would be nearer to 800/900 bucks.

I asked for the Class 1 bluetooth dongle recently. The shopkeeper said 350bux. bluetooth went damn cheap. i remembered purchasing "BILLIONTON CLASS1" dongle for 1200bux just a year back :bleh:

Any idea where one can get it from ? Also, what do you mean by class 1. would that suffice ? I just want to use it for my cell

it was writting Class 1 on the dongle so

i though there must be diferent class of

bluetooth available according to the range.
Kalpesh if u stay in mumbai then Lamington

road will be the best place to get else go to

any Mobliewala shop they keep it

kubuntu 6.10 has inbuilt support for bluetooth...no drivers required for bluesoleil USB dongle...on windows, of course you need to install the s/w provided on the mini disk. on ubuntu it works like a charm....though i haven't checked what all can be done in linux other than just transferring files using BT. I bought the BT dongle for arnd 250 bucks 2 months back.

Get any local one..

I remember getting one with a claimed 100m range for 210/- from NP a couple of months back..

buy any dongle

acc to the dongle u will get a stack (s/w) with it

otherwise it will be ms stack

So far best performance I got is from Widcomm stack came with my dongle. I recently purchased another dongle from Bangalore (billington) just to find out later that it was duplicate. Anyway, works fine with widcomm stack but with limited range.
