guys i have a sony vaio with an Atheros AR8151 ethernet card,
I installed ubuntu 10.10 but incidentally, drivers for it are not included and my network card shows up as an unclaimed device
theres a method in which i can downlad the drivers from Atheros, but for compiling them i need the package build-essential.
but without internet, theres no build essential, and without build essential, theres no internet!
what do i do?

build-essential is on the desktop cd of ubuntu.. pop it up.. start ur synaptic ..

edit > add cdrom> add the cd ...

install the build essential package from synaptic...

now install the .deb of your netwrk driver..

umm try to add that up from synaptic after mounting... it may work.. else i realy dont know..
