Yes my dear i can help you out this is a ridiculous problem.. clean all cache and uninstall yahoo go to yashoo folder delete it reboot your pc.now install yahoo in a diff drive it might work.
this once happened to me and i starte using yahelite only reinstall cured it.
try the above thing i said might work.
if u have gaim installed uninstall it.any otehr clients ur using?

May be you should try using the latest stable version...
Exaclty which version are you using anyway?
