PC Peripherals Microsoft RMA process

I need to RMA my Microsoft wireless K/B Mouse combo and was wondering if i can return it to the shop where i brought it or do i have to go directly to Microsoft's service center in Bangalore. I seem to have misplaced the bill. Is it mandatory to carry the bill along?

Also, if you guys could share your RMA experiences with Microsoft's products that would be great.
 
The Microsoft official service center in Bangalore is a shady and dirty little shop near S.P.Road (next to Electro, a shop that deals with inverters), but the folks there are good and co-operative. They did ask me for a bill, but if you do not have it, they can track it by the import date and the serial number. If they cannot repair it, they give you a new piece in a week. So go to them directly instead of haggling with your shop.
