PC Peripherals Mid End Gaming Rig Suggestion - 35~50K

Hi guys,

I am thinking of buying a mid range gaming rig, well my budget is around 35-50K, one more thing to mention that dont include monitor price.

I was thinking of getting a Q6600 or E8400 and along with that ATI 4850 HD but you can suggest if there is any better alternative with max performance/price ratio .... I am confused if i should go for core2Quad or core2Duo cuz my requirement is gaming and some programming and stuff. well did I sadi watching HD videos yeah thats on the list too [:D]. I heard that now Nvidia launched a better and cheaper card which can outrun ATI in performence/price ratio.

So guys please help me choose ....

Thanks in advance

Thats cool config
But Lets susbstract somthings
I dont need a monitor nor speakers so here goes 20 k
and then i think i could wait for the custom heatsink so here goes more 2k
so now the damge is reduced to nearly 41k
so now i am thinking of getting 4870(is it any better i mean performace/cost)
and i think i need at least 500W PSU can you guys suggest a good one
and well better HDD with good response time and cache.

I would say get this /

AMD Phenom II 920 @ 2.8ghz - Price unknown [ask kmd or wait till lynx get it here] Newegg.com - AMD Phenom II X4 920 2.8GHz 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops

Jetway HA07 790GX @ 6.3k

4 GB DDR 2 800 Transcend P Series 2.2k or Corsaid XMS2 DDR 2 800 4 Gb kit 2.5k or Gskill PI 4Gb 3k

HDD depending on your storage needs.. Or get WD 640 AAKS 3.6k

CM 690 Cabinate 4k

Corsair HX 620 or VX 450 depending on your powerneed , ~6k , 3.8k respectively

ATI Radeon HD 4850 10k

Monitor : Benq HD E2200 the one mentioned above . 12k

Keyboard and Mouse on your choice..

Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer 2k

Samsung 22X DVD Rw 1.1 k

All in all if you consider pricing of AMD X4 920 to be 10k then this rig would be around 52000 Rs ..

and I think the Dragon platform would be much better as AMD PII 920 can OC much better and is quite a better proccy in comparison to Q6600// http://www.techenclave.com/1007460-post44.html

Thanks you guys for the feedback, darkstar can you tell me where can i buy Phenom II 920 or 940 and well suggest me a good motherboard as u said the dragon infrastructure is gr8 for OC so i want to know if there are any 3rd party vendors who make the chipset and is that platform available here in india cuz i think i couldn't get these stuff from a normal PC retailer by the way i m living in bangalore so any suggestion where can i get all this stuff.

For Phenom II ask Katmandude .. For 790 GX based board get any of them , either MSI or Gigabyte , if you are on tight budget get Jetwayy..

well guys i think i did finalize my config so neew your views on it

Processor
AMD Phenom X4 II 920 (~12k.....or maybe cheaper :p)
(well the pro here is that they are providing a good heat sink which looks like 50$ heat sink, but at the same time i m worried about reliability and bugs :(()

Mothorboard
Biostar , Gigabyte 790FX + 750 South Bridge (8-10 k )

GPU
Palit HD 4850 Sonic Edition (~12 k )

Cabinet
CM 690 Cabbie ( 4200 )

RAM
corsair Dominator 1066 , cas 5-5-5-15 (~6k)

HDD
WD 640 AAKS (~4k)

PSU
corsair VX 450 (~3.5 maybe more)
It Sums UP 52 K but i think it could be near about 45k :D

so what do u guys think is that config good i think i need some suggestion on MOBO. any recommendation guys.

well i called some dealers here and they were saying that PX4II 920 will be available in Feb so i m waiting for that.
I got a question, I read in reviews that most of the boards of 790 series have some bios issues and they don't recognize PII is it true. Do I need to switch back to good old reliable config i.e. Intel Q series waiting for Ur feedback guys.
