Need a cell phone in like ~20k range. . .
main concerns are
1)True Net ( not just the wap sites..:P )
2)Email attachment shd be able to open.
3)Symbian preffered...

was thinking of communicators,,,,,but then..too big..

Nokia preffered.:)
How abt the N-Series..

p.s: currently on a 6680.

if you are using the 6680...u can use Opera Mini on it...almost every site works on it!! except flash n stuff...

I have been using Opera Mini on my 6265 since quite sometime...and most sites work wihout a hitch!! orkut works...facebook works....all the forums work...even net banking via ICICI works!

if u want an even better experience the only logical choice seems to go to a windows mobile phone...but even then u'll need to use a version of Opera cause most of the Windows phones will have a version of IE which works only with wap sites...

Nokia 9300i, Ya it's a Communicator, No cam But browsing is fine.. the wide display takes it all, I have a 9300 and i am happy about it, Size? u will get used to it in 2days.

My dad uses P990i. Only thing is, u have to get used to the qwerty keyboard. Else all wonderful. And only buy a 3G, its gonna launch very soon, i heard that the army recently handed over the spectrum to the cell giants. :hap2:

+1 for any windows mobile based cell...try the htc/imate phones..the touch is supposed to be good. got bout 18.5k quote on it...(no bargaining)

hey bro id advice you to stay away from the htc touch, after reading loads of praises about it, i convinced my bhaiya to buy the phone, but as it turns out the phone had loads of problems, software flaws, the screen would just shut down sometimes, and loads of bugs basically. So being a guy who hates such things he sold itafter 2 days (at a loss of 2k which he blames me for.. :-() and now hes bought a e90 which hes all praises for. Not that im advising the nokia, but do check before u buy the touch.

Cheers Mate!!

E90 has a lot of problems and has seen recalls worldwide. Rumor has it that Nokia has halted E90 production for now. I recommend E70 or the upcoming N81, which is a worthy improvement upon N80.

Weird..you must've got a defective one.. I know loads of people using the touch without a hitch.. ofcourse i won't recommend it to everyone (and in general i dont recommend WM phones to everyone) unless ur kinda a geek coz it needs to be tweaked and all a bit, but to me thats the fun in it..

^^ true, if browsing the internet is only criteria , go for tablet kind of mobile phones. They offer 800 horizontal resolution , so no scaling reqd.

I own a P990i and though it has a gr8 screen (for web browsing) and qwerty keypad....only downside is tht its symbian...and to me, WM is always>>than symbian..;) So, i'd still suggest u to get the HTC Touch....in ur budget, thts the best phone u can get..Forget symbian, surf the net on IExplorer on the touch...:P

This is what I posted as a comment on that stupid tech2.com review:

Jeez man, you "techie" people should atleast know how to tweak WM phones to optimize them.. almost everyone uses the Touch overclocked to 260-286Mhz to solve the speed issues. It easily overclocks to 260 Mhz atleast (mine is stable at 286, and some even reached 312 Mhz). Also, there are custom ROM's out which take a few minutes to flash that give you 25 MB more storage and 4 MB more RAM which makes it even more fast.. Also, you missed 1 major part of this phone. The TouchFLO thingy can recognize the difference between the stylus and the thumb, so if you press somewhere with your thumb it kinda calculates the center of your press and accurately judges what you were clicking on. All the people bashing this sexy phone just dunno how to optimize it..

Also for messaging you can install the free HTC PhonePad which has big T9 buttons for easy messaging. Granted, it should have come pre-installed with the phone (Dunno why HTC didn't do that), but anyway you can just do it yourself and enjoy msging. There are also customation applications out to customize the TouchFLO cube completely so you can change the applications there and add your own.. Also there's an amazing contact manager for WM phones that works very well with the Touch, called PocketCM (pocketcm.com) and its FOR FREE! Amazing scrolling capabilities.. and there are lots and lots more tweaks and hacks around to make this phone badass, and it's not even that hard...
