CPU/Mobo MoBo or RAM kaput: or is this a compatibility war?

SO i just assembled a new PC a month ago, config as follows

AMD X4 955 BE

MushKin 996679 - 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 7-8-7-20 Blackline

MSI 890GXM-G65 Mobo

1tb Seagate 7200 hdd

MSI 460 GTX 1Gb

My ram go detected at 9-9-9-24 1333, i reconfigured just the fsb to 1600, didnt find the time to reconfigure the timings.

Often i used to notice a blue screen error very very sporadic, sometimes once a week, sometimes thrice in a day, weirdly.

yesterday night it restarted with a blue screen, i booted back into windows and ina minute another blue screen. The next blue screen was at the welcome screen of windows, then windows prompted to run windows repair, selecting that option rebooted the machine as well , this happened for 6-7 times, i booted into my bios and it hung there as well. This happened about 3-4 times.i got fedup since it was late n slept

the blue screen was Page Fault in non-paged area & IRQ not Less or Equal at tandom.

Today the PC is not posting at all. Im guessing its a compatibility issue and the ram has finally given up

Im gonna go home n figure things , suggestions ?

Logical solution is sell the ram n get a Ripjaws :(

This is what i saw on Toms that got me thinking

Re: MOBo oR RaM KAPuT : OR is this a CoMpaTiBiLiTy WaR

the mushkin memory homepage clearly states that the ram is compatible with LGA 1156 systems - other users on other forums have had similar problems with the same ram--tomshardware being an example. Solution--change to gskill ripjaws.

Re: MOBo oR RaM KAPuT : OR is this a CoMpaTiBiLiTy WaR

i have had my bad share with mushkin.

had an entry level 2GB DDR2 stick (standard 5-5-5 timing @ 1.8V) which would refuse to work with any of my am2/am2+ boards no matter however loose timing, slow frequency and beafy voltage i may supply.

Replaced it 3 times with primeabgb where it worked for them with old gen athlon X2.

To note is that all these 3 modules worked just fine with all lga775 boards i put them on. finally gave up and sold it to someone with lga775.

im sticking to gskills and corsair.

even dynets dont come with such horrible compatibility.

corsairs are better for AMD platform. they even have performance models particularly for AMD.

Not really. My RAM timings were detected all wrong by my 880 board. Nevertheless I still managed to tighten the ram to 8-9-8-22.

Timing are detected that are present in jedec s am profiles. The enhanced profiles are always to be set manually..

It still got it wrong. The enhanced profiles were only for Intel Boards ....

You are not understanding.

What im saying is that no mater if they are for intel or amd, the board will realize and set only JEDEC profiles..the enhanced profiles are not JEDEC generally...(i forgot the name of other type of profile on memory module...you can check under cpu-z)

ok update, reset the bios and tried alternate sticks, mobo beeps for ram error. Ram is kaput, will Rma and buy Gskill ripjaws :( unless sudhir works some wonders for me, will sell the new ram sticks as soon as i get them

And it still got it wrong ahhhhhhhhh!!!!! It detected the stick at 10-10-10-30T or something instead of the 9-9-9-24T in the JEDEC Profile, I had to manually tighten the timings.

Yes DigitalDude. Its called XMP-1600 on my stick.

^ not sure about that but i remember seeing EPP profile under Memory Tab of cpu-z for my old gskill performance memory kit. i used it on am2 board.

never mind, got what you meant. It was originally developed jointly by nV and corsair.

but yes, basically what i mean to say is that boards will realize only JEDEC profiles by default unless the board is certified to realize those specific profiles.
