Hi guys

I have 5 years old box with Athlon II 4x 635 proccy, Biostar 785G3 HD mobo ,2x2gb g.skill ram paired with Corsoir 550vx and some MSI 5500 gpu.

I play csgo without much hiccups on this system but wish to upgrade its performance by little bit by adding another 4gb g.skill ram.

I want to know if g.skill 1600MHZ CL9 RIPJAWS will work on this mobo and the old 4gb ram.

As I see in the mobo spec, it will support unitll 1333, so the 1600 ram will be downgraded to 1333 to work along with mobo and existing ram, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks in advance

Your understanding is correct. RAM above 1333 MHz will be run at 1333MHz only due to limitation of chipset/proccy.

I would also suggest you to check if high density ddr3 is supported by the board or not. For eg: few G41, P45 chipset boards had this limitations. I learned it the hard way.
