Monitors Monitor question

Guys, I'm going to be using an old 15" CRT that draws powers from the PSU. Problem is, my PSU doesn't have the necessary socket.

So, is it alright to use a 17" monitor power cable that draws its power externally, or is it not advisable?

This is only a temporary situation...

Yeah, you can use the regular power cable for powering your monitor.

The power out provided on the old PSU's is more of a convenience than anything else. Internally the power is directly routed to the power out connector, there is no conversion or step down or anything involved in between if you are worried about that.
