I am planning to upgrade my existing monitor(15" LG). I want to for a larger screen size (17"+). Since price is a constraint I have decided to settle for a CRT rather than LCD(17" Sony LCD is 16-17K!). Can someone suggest a good manufacturer for 17" or 19" CRT monitors and their pricing ? If you have any comments on my decision, please post.

Hey Udit, you sure it does 1600x1200@77Hz? When I was looking for a good 17" CRT, I couldn't find one with a higher refresh rate than 1280x1024@60Hz.

Anyway, checked the Viewsonic site but only found a G70fb that does 1280x1024.
 
IMHO you should buy a 17" LCD than a 19" crt...
Don't look at Sony...their korean counterparts offer cheaper products...I think Samsung and ViewSonic has 17" Lcds priced at around 14K....

But if your budget doesnt suit...then you can always buy a 17" CRT...

^^ Buying LCD's now seems to make more sense but the cheapest models are around 11-12k (Acer IIRC).

Otherwise, the CRT suggested by Udit is one of the best out there :)

Also consider the Acer AF715, its got similar specs to the Viewsonic but can only go upto 1600X1200 @ 75 Hz, which is overkill for a 17 incher really. Ideal res would be 1280X1204 and it can do it @ 85 Hz, so try to get the Viewsonic or this. Its around the 6-6.5k mark but availability is an issue.
