Essential Edition was 5k here and Maxtor Basic 500gig was 4.8k. I paid 1k more for e-sata and fw hehe.
 
man this is some coincidence....Jus asked my Dad to get me the exact same model when he comes down here to visit.

Good buy...Oh and just curious. The power supply. Is it the American style flat pins?

Congrats :). Nice looking storage.

In my experience, the firewire port on my SVB casing gives only 3Mbps more transfer rate vs the USB.

If you can, please do a benchmark of the various interface rates.
