Graphic Cards MSi OC 6850 vs Sapphire 6850

I have decided to go for 6850 card after some research online.
Now I am not sure which company to go with MSi or Sapphire.I am even fine with XFX or ASUS if the price is low compared to MSi and Sapphire.
MSi Overclocked 6850 price was Rs.9350 in the local market. Didn't get the quote for Sapphire one.But the online price appears to be Rs.9500 SMCInternational.
Which would be good, quality wise and for a little bit of overclocking?
What is your budget?

If you mean you have a quote of Rs.9350 for MSI CYCLONE OC edition, then it the best 6850 out there in the market. The cooler is awesome and so is the cooling and performance. Go for this one eyes closed....but if its the normal red/black covered MSI 6850 , then avoid taking that. It has temperature issues.

Sapphire 6850 (I personally use it)... Avoid this card if you are planning to OC the 6850 from 775mhz to 920mhz and above. Coz above 920mhz the fan needs to be kept at 100% manual setting, which is bad considering the life of the fan. But if you want to have a VFM card, get this. The price would be 9K.

Asus 6850 Direct CU is priced very high in all 6850's. It is a sexy looking card clocked at 790mhz. Cooler is the also nice. Cooler can be rated close to cyclone cooler from MSI. Price would be 10.6K. If you are ready to spend for this, then it would be a second choice for you. It has 6870 PCB, real long card.

Dont have an idea about XFX 6850.. According to the reviews, the initial cards from XFX had fan profile management problem, used to get really high temps. The price is also high for XFX cards. Not recommended.

Quality wise : Asus Direct CU 6850 >> MSI cyclone 6850 >> Sapphire 6850 >> MSI reference red/black 6850 = XFX 6850 (just my opinion though)

Final word : Go for a MSI 6850 CYCLONE (Do check if there is a nearby place to RMA MSI products)

I'm using the MSI cyclone PE for the past couple of months without any problems :D The fan noise is very low; can't comment on overclocking etc coz I've not tried it yet but is supposed to be easy with the bundled Afterburner.

Can anybody explain the calibar of msi 6850 PE? I cant get the stats properly given by various sites. If any body using it , tell me
1. Can i game @ 1080p the upcoming games.
2. Far cry one / two
crysis 1/2
COD series
just cause series
mafia 2
BF2
can it play them smooth @1080p with 0AA ?
Coz am going to build i5 2400 & i cant afford anything except this. So plz explain.

Yes if my sapphire 6850 at 850mhz can play them at 1080p smoothly with 0AA or 2XAA in certain games(checked it when I brought my friends' 22 inch screen for lan gaming), then definitely a 6850 cyclone can do it lot better than mine.

Maybe chiron can explain it better

I think negligible difference in actual playability as compared to stock 6850. No problem in Crysis 1/2, CoD, Metro2033, Dirt 3 etc at 1080p but unable to get playable rates in Witcher 2 with Very Large Textures/AA/Ubersampling enabled. My processor is x4 635 so your i5 config should get noticeably better performance too so no problem with any of the upcoming games either. Also at max oc it is supposed to beat a stock 6870.

^^ You seriously need to wait, for the AMD Southern Islands [HD 7*** series cards] -- end of September they are to release and they promise a smaller die, better thermals and a good bump in actual benches over the HD 6*** series cards, even if the performance is not phenomenally great expect price drops for all cards in the HD 6*** line-up there-by expanding the options for purchase.

Also, nVidia will also slash prices as Kepler is delayed till March 2012, so win-win for AMD currently.

If I wait will the HD7*** series, will they be priced similar to the present 6*** cards.(Eg. 7850 being priced similar to 6850). Will 7*** series be released in India that soon?
In that case should I go ahead with rest of my system use on board Intel graphics for now.
And also I heard that 7*** series is PCIe 3.0 complaint, so if I go with ASUS mobo, will it provide a BIOS update similar to Gigabyte for supporting PCIe 3.0? Or should I go for Gigabyte mobo?

i will wait.... Coz i dont wana lower even a pixel less than 1080p. One offtopic :
can u tell me best h67 mobo for i5 2400 @ 6k. I dont wana intel DH67BL coz no solid caps,. BTW what is the role of solidcaps!?

AFAIK there is no all solid caps H67 mobo at or below 6K. You have to shell out atleast 7K for this.

Solid caps have longer life as they dont rupture and so have no rupture relief lines on top. On the other hand the normal caps, do rupture from those lines causing a leak.

Solid caps have higher temp rating compared to normal ones, thus life is long than normal ones...normal ones are called wet electrolyte caps AFAIK

As intel DH67BL is being asked in various forums @ 6k kinda budget, why? Few years back tech experts dont recommnd intel mobos.
1. Is the reason is intel's monoply @ 6k.
2. Should it dont help but to need 7-8k for third party mobos.
3. What i will miss if i dont get 3rd party mobo. for third party mobos.
3. What i will miss if i dont get 3rd party mobo.

That is over half a year of waiting for maybe ~3-4k lowering of price for a 6950 class card(I'm guessing they will be at the 10k mark around that time if the past generations are any indication). Plus all the big game releases will come by the year end and fwict there is no game coming out that is going to pwn gfx cards like crysis did in its time.

I find the Witcher 2's graphic engine RED more capable of massacring a graphic card than the latest Crysis 2 did to my HD 5770,

The engine is actually more sophisticated. At any instant, there are a hell lot more real-time renders on a Witcher 2 scene than Crysis 2, plus awesome weather effects. Yet I find Witcher 2 on the majestic RED engine the clear winner in frame rate, stability, and simple beauty.
