MTNL triband DNS

Freinds,
If I use my default gateway (192.168.1.1) of mtnl as the prefered DNS, it doesnt works. But in case of my cabllenet connection If I use the default gateway 172.16.250.250 as prefered DNS server it works.

So, freinds can you tell me why the 192.168.1.1 cant be used as the DNS.

MTNL dns are very very slow and I often get timed out error or page not found .Thats why I use differnet servers like 4.2.2.1.
I have also tried treewalk dns but results have not been satisfactory.
Can anyone suggest me some reliable DNS servers and solution so that the errors I get often are minimised?

Configure DNS relay in the ADSL router pointing to MTNL DNS servers i.e 203.94.227.70 etc. and then use default gateway as the preferred DNS in your machine. The private IP i.e 192.168.1.1 of the router does not listen on a DNS port as here is no DNS server running on the router and uses relay.

Port scan 192.168.1.1 and see.
