N73 ME, how much better?

Hi there,

I need to buy a phone. Priority:
1) Nokia bar form factor
2) Good phone features (of course)
3) Music Player
4) Camera

3G, browsing etc is not important.

My budget is actually 10K. Though N72 exactly fits in the budget, but N73 Music Edition's size, weight, 2GB storrage is making it worth considering. But that means ~16K, way over budget

How better is the N73's audio, in comparison to N72?
Is this extra (7K) worth paying?

bchat

yeah... its definatly worth paying... the audio on N73 is way better than N72.. ofcourse if you can check out the 5700 also.. its also good...
if you dont want symbian you can go for the 6233

Are there any N72 owners here? What are the main problems of the model? A friend wants a <10K set... preferably a N series. Only the N72 comes to my mind. How is specially the music quality? Very bad???

too many issues actually...it is a very slow phone, hangs a lot and the battery backup is pathetic...reasons why its price has come down so much..the screen is pretty ordinary compared to other phones in this range and the sound quality is no match to n70,5700 or the w700, which more or less fall in the same price band...
If ur friend can go a bit higher, u can check the 5700..its way better than this piece of junk..the 5700 is a much faster symbian, has a very good sound quality and the cam is okay.. if u cud do without symbian, the w700 is a good phone in around 8.8-9k...n if it has to be nokia, then probably, 6233 is the best choice around 8.3k...

Hi dude n73 rocks man trust me its better than n72 worth payin 17K and i think its not even 17K now its somewhere around 15K for good earphone effects pick an AD45 headset and change ur earphones purchase an creative ep630 i think the GO is available in TE still trust me dude n73 rocks

Actually I have pretty decided that I will go with 5700. :hap2: The problem is with my friend.
We have the same features to look for:

Good music quality. (So N72 is out).
Probably with an expansion slot.
Good resolution screen
Decent GPRS
No camera fascinations. Present/Absent doesn't matter.

Heard that SE phones have joystick prob. True? We have never used SE phones. If W700 has any known probs kindly let me know. My friend's.. going to kill me if one arises.
Also any other better SE phones within 10-11K to look for? 750i? Any Motorola in that price range.
Sorry, bchat for the small hijckng. Didn't want to make a separate thread. :ashamed:

i hv been using w700i for almost an year now...absolutely no issues so far....running java apps while playing music does slow things down...but u don't expect to do both simulatenously too often...btw sound quality is gr8...and with the bundled earphones u may not feel the absence of an ep-630 after all...camera quality is decent in outdoor mode and in good lighting conditions but it sucks indoors or in low light condns...

a frnd bough it from 'heera panna' a few weeks back for rs 7700(without bill, of course).

then probably, 6233 is the best choice around 8.3k...

Thanks Private Ryan for suggesting 6233. It is amazing to find a phone with all the feature set at such a amazing price.
How will you rate its music capability? Good?
I was looking at some of the reviews about this phone. Seems promising.
I am suggesting this for my friend.

if you are planning to load 6233 with 2gb card for mp3 I may not recommend it as the music player is not that great in it as it just lists all the filenames does not categorize in albums like symbian phones...

but for 8200rs its worth the price :)

well, the sound output from the 6233 is one of the best i have heard.. infact the speaker output is sometimes even better than the walkman phones...

I had the 6233 for close to 2 months and i can say for sure, tht its a rock solid and gr8 value for money phone...the loudspeakers are the best u can get, this side of 10k...and is only rivaled by the n73...the screen is awesome and the sound thru the earphones is very good too..but the bundled earphones are just about okay....so, just get an adapter(ad 49) and plug in a pair of ep 630 earphones and its hard to tell the difference between the 6233 and any walkman phone..:D

The only flaw tht i see in the 6233 is tht it is not symbian...the reason why i parted with it.. If u can do with out a symbian phone, then this is the best bang for your buck...go for it..:ohyeah:

u can check my review for the 6233 here...:)

true...output quality is excellent...better than n73 in my opinion.
n73 is loud but not clear...6233 is much clear but not that loud

^Tht depends whether the loudspeaker is being used or the earphones...i had the 6233 and the max volume thru earphones was not too loud at max setting..

but the same setting thru the loudspeakers are extremely loud...

The N73's loudspeakers are more or less equally good as the 6233, but given the fact tht it is symbian and with apps like powermp3, it'll easily sound much better than the stock player of the 6233...;)

The n73ME is overrated if you as me just because it has a 3.2mp cam and a 1 or 2gb memory card ( dont remember exactly).Id suggest the 6233, it is well worth the money, since it offers great functions.

well the N73 is not overrated at all... its just one of the phones that gives good value for money... it performs really well and has a good feature set... the 6233 is another phone with a great feature set...

Salting my wounds eeh ?? PowerMP3 doesn't work on the N73 .. :P .. and LCG Jukebox suxs once u've tasted PowerMP3 :P ... the best music player for the N73 is the default one .. and with the latest firmware , it has got better ..

And N73 headphone feel much better now , compared to the 6233 .. but if u wanna compare headphone quality sound , i'd like to see a Nseries phone beat a 6630/6681 bundled with a SE W series headphone and PowerMP3 ... i've tested over 10 phones now .. and headphone quality still sounds better on the older phone (coz those headphone were of real good quality!!!) ...

But ,, N73 has an awesome loudspeaker ... thats where the older phones are simply pwn'ed .. 6233 has a louder loudspeaker , but the voice is somewhat suppressed unlike the N73's ... plus , this is where the new music player makes a good diff. if u use it :D ..

The n73ME is overrated

Yeah rite .. But atleast its not a 6600 .. N73's price may seem a bit on the high side , stil 15k'+ .. but for that kind of a price u cannot find a phone that'll give u comparable features like the N73 ... the only downside in this phone would be OS9.1 .. otherwise the phone is rocking !!!
