Need a good reliable gaming laptop around ~CAD1700-1800

I will be getting a laptop for myself in the next two weeks from Canada.

I was thinking of Alienware 17mx , but dont know if that would be the best choice. My budget is around ~CAD1700-1800.

My Priorities:

  • Good Battery Life
  • Sturdy enough to handle a few falls; long lasting
  • Runs Cool
  • 17'' FullHD screen
  • Somewhat future proof

International warranty is a bonus, but not really a priority.

The warranty part should be a priority and not a bonus for laptops, specially if its loaded with quad cores and high-end GPU.

Get the MSI 780R. It comes with international warranty too. Buildwise, its sturdy. But i am not sure if it will survive falls :p You will have to look at Panasonic toughbooks for that matter.

Not sure but the Asus can certainly take some beating. There is a video on Youtube where two guys try to destroy it completely and it does not get destroyed so soon lol:bleh:

I'm still tempted towards the Alienware mx17x. It will come to CAD 2000 (1,948.991 to be exact) after customizing it with a FullHD display and 3-year warranty. These will be the specs -

PROCESSOR - Intel® Core™ i7 2630QM 2.0GHz (2.8GHz Turbo Mode, 6MB Cache)

OPERATING SYSTEM - Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium

VIDEO CARD - 1GB GDDR5 AMD Radeonâ„¢ HD 6870M

HARD DRIVE - 320GB 7,200RPM HDD

LCD PANEL - 17.3-inch WideFHD1920 x 1080 60Hz WLED

WIRELESS CARDS - Wireless 802.11 g/n

INTERNAL OPTICAL DRIVE - Slot-Load Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD+-RW, CD-RW)

SOUND OPTIONS - Internal High-Definition 5.1 Surround Sound Audio

PRE-INSATALLED SOFTWARE - Steam and Portalâ„¢ Factory Installed

WARRANTY AND SERVICE - 3 Year Limited Warranty w/3 Year Next Business Day On-site Service

Get the g73 or the g74 dude.

Its got 2 years of international warranty and looking at the specs you've posted the g74 is much better than the overpriced alienware.

For 2000CAD you could get one hell of a beast like the g74

Build quality is also much better than alienware .i can vouch for it as i've got a G73 myself

1925$

Asus G74SX 3DE

Intel Core i7 2630qm

17.3 inch Full HD 3D 120hz screen (Matte)

1.5 TB HDD 7200 rpm

12 GB Ram

Nvidia GTX560M with 3 GB VRAM

Bluray Burner Drive

Win 7 Home Premium

Grey-Tech Computer Inc.

The above deal also includes ROG Mouse, backpack and Nvidia 3D vision kit. If you can live without the 3D screen and bluray writer, you can get the non 3D model for 1700$ with same specs. (It comes with a Bluray Read only drive)

Yeah I don't really need 3D and a bluray writer. This one seems interesting :

Can't the warranty be somehow extended to atleast 3 years? And does this run cool?

Guys, anybody here heard of Sager/Malibal? They seem to offer customizable gaming laptops at the cheapest price I could find. And good warranty terms too.

How are they?
