need a software for picture management

My friend has around 10k pics on his hard drive.So he needs an image/picture management software that is also capable of arrangin those pics to create a slideshow. Nothing fancy just these basic requirements would do.Plz suggest something that's light on resources as he's using a P3 with 128MB ram.

I personally like picasa because it's both your offline and online photo management solution. Can ACDsee do that?

EDIT: It appears ACDsee is not free, and it does look like a complete *offline* photo management solution.
 
Irfanview is really not suitable for photo management - it is a photo conversion software, definitely (and a most excellent one at that).

I have not used ACDSee, I hear it is amazing (but not free of cost). My suggestion is picassa. I liked it when I used it.
 
ACD see also has a problem with generating thumbnails of compressed videos files...even in the latest version it takes ages to load the thumbnails/preview the video files.

@Rio : yeah ... you are right about the online photo management

It has online functionality, but you need a legit registered copy.
 
I think not many of u have heard about Microsoft Max .... Its acc to me one of the best photo viewing software... Just check out the mantle view and then tell me if its a nice show-off to show ur photos or not... and if u like then u can show ur appreciation using the "Rep" button... :lol:
