Hey dude your config looks pretty solid I will recommend the following

AMD Phenom II 955 - 8 K

Mobo is your choice recommend go for ASUS or GIGABYTE instead of MSI - ??

G Skill 4GB Kit Ripjaws 1333 MHz - 6 K or Transcend 4GB - 3.5 K ( DDR 3 )

ATI Radeon HD 5770 - 9 K

NZXT Gamma - 3K or Zebronics Bijli - 1500

Bro try to save your Cooler MAster PSU if it Real Power

Reason for buying 1333 MHz RAM AMD Phenom II X4 810 and X3 720 BE Review - CPUs and Memory Reviews - TrustedReviews

With the above config the price should be btw 23 K and 30 K

Where do you get 4GB Transcend DDRIII for 3.5k :S The minimum price now is ~5-5.5k depending upon the place.

Also the NZXT Gamma sells for ~2k in most metros like Mumbai and Chennai.

Would going with a 890GX chipset make much sense now??
Or considering the USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gbps features I should go for it??

Btw no more configs from anyone else??

As i said i want something from the nVidia camp since the H/W video acceleration is much better implemented in linux than for ATI cards.

Also since gaming is not a priority I am not looking for a very high end card.

Since you wont be gaming, a 9600GT (~ 4.5k) should be enough (though take care that its not a green edition)

And i dont think you need SATA3/USB3 now since it'll take a couple of years before they become mainstream. You can always get an add-on PCI-e (x4) card for about ~1.5k which will enable both.

Try getting an intel i5 750 (~10k) with a gigabyte P55-US3L (6.6k). 2x2GB DDR3 1333Mhz corsair/transcend rams cost ~ 5.5k. Get the NZXT gamma (~2k) and a corsair VX450 (~4k). Then get yourself a GTS250 ( ~7k) with any LG/Sony/Samsung SATA dvd writer (1.1k).

This should last and has quite some upgrade potential. :)
