Need help in setting up a decent audio setup on a tight budget

You can pick up the most basic norge for around 6k. Doesn't come with a remote though and is rated around 30 watt. 5k is a nice deal for those things used.

Polk Monitor 40 bookshelfs are brand new and the deal is from Croma....

Do u know where I can get Norge amps....Me a real noob where it comes to anything concerned with audio and passive speakers...

@ronnie : a good deal for sure, Mr. shyam Bajaj from norge is a very nice person, and will let you audition his amps with ur speaker if u take them along.

I'd recommend doing this, trying out various amps that he's got and finalizing the one which pleases ur ears, if in avery good mood, the good ol fella might even get you the amp tuned to your tastes.

I don't know what options are available in your local market.

Pulz may have some options in the range, as might Norge, but I'm not sure what kind of power you'll get.

There are DIY-friendly solutions that the local electronics market should have, but you need experience or an expert to knock something together. Most of the time a good parts store will offer a customised build within your budget - I know shops in Calcutta and Mumbai who do it. Here is an example (Australian) of this kind of a module: DIY Fidelity The quality isn't anything to write home about, but it's not bad for what you pay (I'm talking about the Indian modules now). I used to run this as a business 15 years ago, but left it as customers never wanted to pay premium for quality. No offense meant, but as it turns out, they still don't.

If you have a somebody to assemble it for you, this is a very good choice: QKits Electronic Kits: FK666, 100 Watt Mono Power Amplifier Kit

Trudging the used markets may net you a good deal, but it takes a bit of time. I've seen some decent amps at 5-6K, if a little beat up, sound fine.

Lastly, you can pick up a T-amp ( T-Amp - Class T integrated amplifier - [English] ) using KMD or similar.

I heard the Monitor 30 once, which are the smaller brothers of these speakers. Smooth, but a little on the shrill side. Will be very bright with most cheap and entry-level amps. But if you're getting the 40 for 5K, sounds like a good deal.
