Hi,

I have 2 routers, 1) D-link DIR 600 2) Belkin F7D1301.

Both are wireless, D-Link DIR 600 has custom DD-WRT firmware, I will be installing DD-WRT Firmware on the Belkin one too, I need to configure the belkin router as a wifi extender / repeater for the DIR 600, so i can get full range in every room...

Right now the DIR 600 is in the Kitchen connected to a D-Link 1000 Mbps Switch, I have 3 Computers 1 in my bedroom, 1 in my Brothers & 1 in living room HTPC all of them are connected to the switch.

Kitchen is the only location where i can get the Fiber optic cable hence i cannot move the Dlink router in Hall / Passage. So I got a spare router from a friend, and want to figure out how to configure both of these routers.

I need to get good reception in hall, right now there are a lot of drop connections from the wifi router in kitchen.

So if any one has configured 2 routers as wireless repeater / extender, please provide some information on how to accomplish this.

Thanks :hail:

Make sure the Belkin router is in bridge mode and that both the belkin and Dlink are on the same subnet.

I have connected my routers (Buffalo and Dlink) similarly.

Refer this sample: Note the circles:

Network names should remain the same.
Note the last three settings, thats all.
Also, when you start the repeater up after flashing with dd wrt, it may have a IP which could conflict with your existing wifi, so change it to a .3/ .4 etc, or if you are familiar with DHCP, out of the set DHCP range.

Ok so there is no DD-WRT firmware for the Belkin Model i have, if my Dlink-600 is the Main Router & I'll try configuring the settings as shown by axeman

a question though.... from the switch should i connect the wire to the WAN port / LAN Port on the Belkin Router?

my config is for the repeater only (it should be a dd wrt router), IF it is connected to the main router via wifi (wireless)
if you are doing a wired connection between both the routers then this is not applicable, and wired connection should be from LAN port on main router to LAN port on repeater. but in this case, technically it is not a repeater, you will have two different wireless networks, with two access points, but the same IP range and gateway.

there is only one option in Belkin that is to use the router as access point.

I would like to have a Wireless bridge instead of wired if possible, cause i don't want to do any more cabling.

Right Now what i did was Configure Belkin as Access Point & connected a cable to it... since there is no DD-WRT i couldn't configured.
