Hi guys....

A friend of mine bought inspiron 1525 few months ago with vista home premium version. Its having bluetooth along with some kinda software for it. As he keeps traveling quite a bit he wanted some portable cheap net connection.
As his nokia phone has EDGE i asked him to avoid spending on reliance/ tata datacards as their initial investment is quite a bit, rental is too much (relative to his usage which will be mostly browsing) and performance is nothing to speak about.
I tried setting up connection with bluetooth, nokia 6681 (also tried my nokia 6630) but couldnt get through.
Now he so much fade up that the sole purpose of getting that laptop is not served.
I dont remember exactly whats problem we came across but in case any of u have done this pl share some info. I triend both widcomm as well as bluesoliel softwares/ drivers and it wasnt accepting bluetooth modem i guess.

This is a bit urgent as he is going to a karhad (maharashtra) where he needs net connection for his studies in medical profession.

If u are comfortable, u can send ur contact no/ cell no so that i can directly call u and get help on line. (Dell as well as nokia were not of much help)

Thanks in advance.

Ok. Are you getting any error?

1. Check if your bluetooth modem is installed and its can be accessed in query mode.

2. Are you using nokia suite?

it is very dificult to to guess reason with this much info.

EDGE give very good speed enough for day to day surfing ..

I have been using this facility for years (GPRS earlier) now in pune as well as in Karad -)

idea, thats great.... (u are getting nice speeds).

Do u use this gprs on your laptop or desktop and which OS is it having? A bit what i remember is, bluesoliel software was not compatible with vista and widcomm was troubled with bluetooth modem so system was saying like no modem found.
Anyway i shall try that again and get back to u. And thanks for the reply.

NP :)

I am using it on my lappy as well as desktop with moto rockr E6/Nokia 6810/samsung E250. with XP
gprs/EDGE from mobile
1. Make sure u can access net on mobile.
2. u can access modem using query mode. Best option is use nokia suit.
3. Try using cable instead of bluetooth.

it will clear picture for sure..
