The minimum to go with an Nvidia 8800 series card will be a display with 1680x1080 res. and with your usage requirements a dell 2007 or a 2407 will be good.

i was thinking of something cheaper than 25 k for a monitor... something like a 19 inch widescreen something like dell E198WFP
Screen typeActive matrix TFT
Dot pitch/AG pitch (mm)0.2835mm
Horizontal scan range (kHZ)30 kHz to 83 kHz (automatic)
Resolutions1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz (Optimal)
Response Time: 5ms (Typical)
Dimensions (HxWxD): 364.9 x 445.1 x 143.9 (with stand)
Flat Panel specificationsInterface (A or D): Analog, DVI-D (Digital)
Brightness (cd/m2): 300cd/m2 Typical
Contrast ratio: 1000:1 (typical)
price (on website): 14 k
n wats the lammy price fer the 8800 gtx , 8800 gts , hd 2900 xt n is there ny oder i should consider... n which company made shld i buy as in asus , leadtek etc. n shld i wait fer the hd 2900 xtx , claims to have 1 gb ram n faster n better .... nyways knos the approx price fer it??....
thx again

i guess it makes the most sense these days to buy a 19' widescreen. cause 20'+ sizes still demand a steep premium, but it will come down in 5-6months i believe.

So i would certainly suggest you to buy a 19' ws right now and hold tight a little while longer and get a 24' beauty!! get a quad core processor with it (q6600), a xfx 680i motherboard (not to sure about it, though im sure others around here will be able to guide you well on this), 2*1 gb sticks (or 4*1 gb if you want a killer machine.. :eek:hyeah: ), xfx 8600 gts, 2*320 gb hdds. All this should turn out nice with a classy cabinet!!

P.S: i had read somewher about a dell 22' (E228WFP) being available for about 17k. This might be a decent buy at such a price and probably the best choice considering the fact that you do have the budget for it.:hap2:

not being rude or anything.... but isn't the 10,000 price difference a bit too much fer one inch?

Somebody feel free correct me if I'm wrong here, as I don't have in depth knowledge on this, but I think the 19" WS you're thinking about is a TN based panel. The 2007WFP is manufactured using superior technology, I believe that TN based panels have 16.2 million colors while the 2007WFP has 16.7 million colors. :bleh:

You might want to have a look at this article.

Size is not the only thing when it comes to Flat panel displays.

The 19" one is a TN IIRC and the 2007s are S-IPSs, they have the best colour reproduction.

to find panel info on LCD monitors you can refer to PRAD | Index Startseite or TFT Central - TFT and LCD Monitor Information, Reviews, Guides and News.

@akshay @amityrock.. Both the E198WFP and the E228WFP are TN panels and are no match for the S-IPS panels and i think when you're spending that much on a rig it makes sense to buy the best.. Here's a link to help you decide on the same anyway.. TN Film, MVA, PVA and IPS – Which one's for you?

Also i agree with everyone's suggestion to go for a Q6600, a 680i or P35 mobo and a 8800GTS/GTX card (whichever finally sits in ur budget)..

what is the price of a 8800 gts 640 ... will it come in 18,000?if so .. where can i buy it from (shop name or something ) n which company (n tell me it's cons if it has any... )

oh yeah.... posting my budget here...
monitor - 20 k
graphics card 15 - 18 (max .. i hope)
keyboard and mouse - 3k
cabinet and pus - 7 k
hard drive - seagate 7200.10 320 gb - 3,900... (nythin lesser?? )
motherboard - 7 - 10k
ram -6k
cpu - 9k
dvd - 2 - 2.5 k
PS approx. how much discount will i get if i buy everything frm one shop ??

:) I might be flamed for this but do have a look at both the s-ips one and the tn panel one....some guys might not see an obvious difference..if you are one of those who is not fanatically into color reproduction etc etc...get the cheaper widescreen one...for 20k maybe the 22 inch one

I would agree with raj_pol there....the color reproduction might be crucial for many, but i cant see a damn difference in gaming and watching movies....my suggestion wud be to either buy the 19inch viewsonic/dell or a 22inch dell from raghu. Its an amazing deal and very much VFM monitor.
