Hello friends .
I recently joined this forum and i found this one to be pretty intresting .
I leave in Manipal and i am doing my engineering. I am a hardcore gamer. i right know have ATI 9200SE (128MB& it is AGP). I would like to upgrade my card to another AGP.My budget is around RS 5000

My questions are:

1) Which card should i purchase nearly to the above budget so that i can play all the recent games of Direct-X9 such as STALKER ,FEAR,etc..... atleast in medium settings ?
2) where can i get a card in bangalore ?
3) will online trading be a good option since there are no Graphics Card dealers near my place.

please reply to this . Thanks in advance

hey man

sure a lot of TE gurus will be ansering this but heres my sugestion.

there is no point in buying a brand new agp card as the agp segment is phased out and with the arrival of PCI-e 2 the AGP will be antique(just like the Pci now)

so its better to get a good second hand one from our TE members or some one u know.

if u still insist then go for a 7600gs agp wich sells for 6k.

do post us your PC config. cuz anything over this your processor might be a bottle neck.

a 6600gt is enough to play FEAR at 800*600 with medium settings w/o AA and HDR.(personal experience m8)

so its better to get a nice secondhand one from our own TE members and be happy with it.

P.S your are YET to be a hardcore gamer, not one already (9200SE!!!)

AGREE

Just adding, to play FEAR smoothly you also need bigger RAM like 1GB.

You are very much right memnon. getting an AGP card woud be useless.

But i am in a such a situation where i dont have any other choice.

I have an elder brother who stays in Germany. He will be coming home in Feb 2008. I am thinking of asking all the required components with my brother

Untill then i think i must be satisfied with AGP
And regarding " Hardcore Gamer " ....i am a really a game lover (PC, PS..)...but i am confined to my constraint .... i have lots of plan of playing games in the way it should be played once i get a decent job after my graduation

My PC config : 256MB RAM ( DDR)

Asrock motherboard (around 3 years old)

Athlon xp 2400+

ATI Radeon 9200SE

I am also planning of upgrading my RAM to 1 GB DDR.. THANKS....

abhay , i think you better go for a second hand agp card rather than a new one. buy it from someone who has good rep here in TE so that you will have better assurance in getting a good card. :)
