I want to buy a router for home use. Will be used to connect Laptop, tablet and phone. I am not using it for file transfers within network. It will be used only for browsing internet. Want good range all over the house with no dead spots and stable connections with no drop outs. Which one should i opt for ?

1) Netgear WGR614 Wireless-N 150 Router

2) TP LINK 150Mbps Wireless N Router

Any other suggestions ?

PS : It should work for both airtel and later for cable broadband(ftth) like beam fiber and act.

i think for your usage, you need to get a 150MBps N router. The netgear model you mentioned is 54MBps G router. Not N. And its out of production.

My guess is you saw that router on Flipkart who have mentioned its a N router. I asked them to correct their mistake and they did not.

Asus and Netgear are two good models from which you can choose.

I doubt these routers you mentioned would work with ftth. Ftth routers are mostly gigabit ones. I saw some model from Asus and Netgear which mentioned ftth support but they were around 6.5k.

I was told to stay away from tplink because of cheap build and some quality issues.

How about this model - D-Link DSL-2750U Wireless N ADSL2+ 4-Port Wi-Fi Router. Will this work with FTTH ?

Also can you please tell me the difference between DSL and ADSL routers ? Will both work for cable/FTTH ?

i dont have ftth, so i'm not sure i can answer your queries. you'll have to wait for people having beam or act ftth broadband and using some router to answer here.

ADsl modem has inbuilt modem to dial isp though phone line. dsl and cable are internet services that are given to customer through lan cable. these connect to router through the wan port.

ftth is also given through lan i guess.

Get the modem from your adsl provider and put it in bridge mode and allow the router to do the authentication. This way you will save money on a adsl router which cannot be used for non adsl networks. Also, sometimes, due to lightening, your modem can conk off. in this case, since the modem is from your adsl provider, ask them to replace it for free.

+1 for the TP LINK 150Mbps Wireless N Router.

Just bought one on saturday for 900 bugs from lamington.

Found it VFM since my requirement was the same as yours.
