Network Troubleshooting required

I recently switched to LAN from WLAN (My WLAN PCI card has mysteriously stopped working) and what I find is that sometimes even though my modem has the internet light on, my network connection says "No internet access" (i.e. It will be fine for say 4-5 hours then suddenly I cant use my internet) and there is nothing I can do to make it work except restart my modem.

I have a Dynamic IP configuration, I tried static but then it fails to recognize my modem and says "Unidentified network". And restarting (turning it off and then on) hasn't been easy as my modem sometimes takes an unreasonable time to get the link back (from 10 mins to more than an hour!)

This didn't used to happen when I was on WLAN, please help me out here!

Another thing is I recently upgraded my motherboard and processor and since then my WLAN PCI card has not been able to work. The network adapter always remains disabled, and when I enable it..it disables itself. When I click on diagnose it says that there is a driver problem inspite of me already having installed the driver.

My OS - Windows 7

My ISP - Bharti Airtel

My Modem+router - Netgear DG834G

My WLAN card - TP-Link (TL-WN353GD)

Help will really be appreciated :)

^ The only way to find out that the LAN is working properly is by attaching to some other computer. Confirm that first and report back.

Yeah, I have already done that and the internet doesn't work

This thing is frustrating me to new heights! One can feel my pain if while playing a multiplayer game suddenly your internet drops

I really do not have the money right now to do a 3.5k purchase (Need to buy another HDD and only have money right now for one purchase :ashamed:)..I would really like if I do not have to buy another wifi router+modem, anything I could to temporarily fix the problem or atleast be sure that changing the modem is the only solution?

Does it stop working everytime after a fixed time frame or is it completely random?? You mentioned four to five hours. Is that the usual time-frame when it stops working? It could just be the device heating up or something too. Try keeping it well ventilated or something. May or may not make a difference. At this point, you've got nothing to loose by taking a look!

No, it is completely random. Sometimes it may stop working after 2 hours or so sometimes, like presently it hasn't happened since 3 days now. (My modem is continuously on)

And I do not think it is the heating problem.
