New Air Conditioner advice needed

Hi,
I have recently moved to Chennai and the Summer has just started here and boy! is it hot? Even more than the heat is it the high level of humidity combined with the high temperatures that are really making it difficult to live here.

The dimensions of the room are 12ft X 10ft X 15ft
Also what brand of Air Conditioner would be ideal (good service etc.)
Any help regarding this would be great.
TIA

Tat room space demands a 1.5T AC..

U can stick to a Split model which performs better than a window one of the same tonnage..

Brands like Carrier, Daikin, O-General and Hitachi is out of question since they're priced at 30k mark for the 1.5T range..

U can settle for a Voltas Vertis Plus 1.5T.. Has a good EER.. Rotary compressor tat offers replacement warranty.. And nonetheless, a TATA product..

Look out fer an EER rating of 2stars and above..

Dont forget a decent stabiliser fer tat.. :)

Thanks folks.

I am sort of leaning towards the Voltas (and the Veritas Gold in particular) as they seem to offer the best VFM. Cost is a bit steep though, 31K.
Has anyone had any experiences with Voltas AC's?

Also what changes are needed within the room to accommodate a split AC (any inlet/outlet holes needed? what kind to power supply point etc.?).

^^^

31k can get u a Carrier Durakool 1.5T which's superior to the Voltas ACs..

Anyways..

One hole of aprrox. 150-170mm dia. has to be drilled to accommodate the inlet pipe from the external unit, the 3phase electric connection and the outlet pipe for water drainage..

The technicians will take care of all those + the holes required for mounting the backplate of the ac. Around 12 screws will be required for tat.. :)

I'd suggest the Carrier Estrella 1.5T.

MRP is around 23500/- Mumbai but, you can get it till 22,000/-

The EER for this AC is the highest that I have seen. Higher the EER lower your Electricity Bills :p

Its the window one you are talking about? The split one, afaik is around 35k.

Is it any particular feature/way in which the Carrier is superior to the Voltas?

Willis Carrier was d brainchild behind Carrier ACs.

Read this:

Carrier Corporation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

They deliver the best of the product, best prices, unbeatable quality and performance alike.

Jus like how OTIS gave birth to elevators and lifts. :)

Their only competitors being O-General, Hitachi and Daikin. From the Indian manufacturers, Blue Star and Voltas.

Just got a quote of 29K from a dealer nearby for the Voltas Gold.
He didn't have the Carrier though :(

It's hard to find. Also no one has it off the shelf. Dealers order when you order.

@Corleone: Dude, edit ur posts rather than adding new ones.. seems all're a min older than the prev ones..

BTW Carrier FTW... Durakool>Quadricool.. :p

Sorry buddy. I don't see the edit button? Where is it located?

Anyways Estrella is a better Model than DuraKool.

More features and better EER. :D

Also have another question, how do we choose the correct wall on which the AC should be fitted? (Obviously it should be a outside facing wall) but which direction would be better?
