Well i got a new computer for my friend of the following specs

Asus M4A88T-V EVO/USB3

Phenom II X4 955 BE Proccy

2X2 Corsair XMS3 Memory

He has a 500GB Seagate Sata HD

Standard SMPS

No Graphics card

and he has a IDE DVD RAM Drive

so the problem whenever he boots the computer with the windows 7 DVD in it the computer freezes at Scanning for Media Devices

so he installed the HD with windows 7 with another computer and he added the Hard disk to the new computer but what happens is when the Windows 7 icon comes the computer freezes and it then Reboots

he also tried changing the ram and i am completely lost what the problem might be

So please Help

PSU can be the problem for the restarting issue... And u just said that he just has a standard PSU... can u tell us which PSU he has?

And does this happen during windows 7 installation?

iits a 500rs standard Zebronics PSU the thing is everything gets detected Properly but what happens is when he pops in the win 7 DVD into the DVD drive and starts the computer everything boots normally but the whole thing freezes during the scanning for media devices Stage.

Might be that the dvd is not being read properly due to scratches or the lens being dirty.Try with another OS disk>use memtest86 to see if memory is an issue.

First of all, Windows 7 is extremely sensitive to hardware changes. You can't simply swap hard disk from another computer expecting it to work... Download the Windows7-USB-DVD-tool.exe from Microsoft's website and use some other PC to make a USB install drive for windows 7. Before powering up check if all the cables have been connected properly, ram is inserted in the correct manner and CPU cooler is seated tightly without any gaps. In the bios, first load fail safe defaults, then disable all the components that you are not using alongwith the IDE-DVD drive. Before installing to do a memory/RAM check from the bootable usb (option is on the first or the second screen ).

Hopefully this will solve your problem.
