Graphic Cards New Graphics Card for an older machine !

Hi !
My config is there in my signature, my 4850 has started to hiccup. It was one of the best cards I had, played the latest Max Payne with ease at 1440x900.

Keeping all the same, I would like to buy a graphics card similar to this performance or slightly better. Budget should be around Rs 8000,a little up would not hurt.

since I am not a very serious gamer who measures the performance pixel to pixel, smooth playability and good looking graphics is my need.

I have been out of the computer circuit since some time, and well ! spent some good days on this forum, it has certainly grown...
 
@Atlantis you can look at the following options --
  • AMD HD6770 1GB ~6500/-
  • AMD HD6850 1GB ~8500/-
  • AMD HD7770 GHz edition 1GB ~9000/-
Here are benchmarks to further tell the relative performance of the cards --
AnandTech - Bench - GPU12 -- AMD HD5770 (rebadged as an HD6770) vs. AMD HD4870
AnandTech - Bench - GPU12 -- AMD HD5770 vs. AMD HD6850
AnandTech - Bench - GPU12 -- AMD HD5770 vs. AMD HD7770GHz edition

Just wanted to tell that prices have gone up,HD7770G GHz-10k and HD6850 has never gone down than 9.5k so do consider this,Well if OP finds for lesser price then it's very nice for him.Just wanted to mention this,Cheers.

I thought they slacked of, especially with the HD78** series cards so cheap (relatively) now-a-days (thanks Sapphire) I don't think the HD7770 GHz and HD6850 can hold at their old prices of ~10000/- and ~9500/- quid.

Go with Sapphire and Primeabgb,They are both good,Sapphie A.S.S is better than MSI,So go with that and yes Theitwares is still run by rahul.:P
