ok so i watch a lotta movies/serials on my comp + play the occasional game of fifa, grid watever...i already have a 20" acer @ 1680x1050 on a 9600GT but i want summin bigger :p
now i see no point in buying a 22" monitor even tho the price is so sweet @ around 11k i could get a S2209W
next in line the 24"ers... problem is 24"ers are so exp ...the S2409W will cost around 18k
i donno how much the E2400HD costs ?
so the question is ....a move to 22"s will be resonable but its only 22" :( + im already on a 20"
24"s - is it really worth the extra 7k odd :O for 2"s over the 22"s
and next ....with all these FULL HD 1920x1080 monitors coming into the market.. wats the main diff from the normal 1920x1200 24"ers ? they too support 1080p right ? so aside from the native rez diff is there anything else ?
does 1080p look weird on 1920x1200 monitors ? do 1080p videos stretch or sumthing? which is better ?
and finally
will this 24" acer ever come to india ? if so for around how much ? and should i wait for it ? it is a FULL HD monitor

I was in the same boat, so I hope I can help. A monitor is not something that one buys everyday. When I calculated that a 24" gives almost 20% more viewing area than a 22" while viewing in 16:9 aspect ratio I was sold.

2" is a fair amount when it comes to screen sizes. If you want to analyze it in this way, compare 15" with 17" or compare 17" with 19" - huge difference!!

As for 1080p content, on 1920x1080 (i.e. 16:9) it will display perfectly. On 1920x1200 (i.e. 16:10) it was also display well, but with black bars on the top and bottom (60 pixels wide each). What does this mean? Simply put, it means that if your primary use for the monitor is multimedia (i.e. 16:9 content like movies, games etc) then go for 1620x1080. If you want to maximize on screen space for general computer usage (browsing, photoshop etc.) then go for 1920x1200.

p.s. my best guess is that the BenQ E2400HD would be around 17-18K, which puts it in the same category as the Dell S2409W.

p.p.s. keep in mind that most movie content available online isn't 16:9 always. YMMV.
