My panny tz1 has died on me and I have to purchase a superzoom digicam.

I have shortlisted Sonh H55 (10x optical zoom) and panny TZ8 (12x optical zoom).

I do noy like the soft images of canon and shoot a lot indoors, so low noise indoors is important.

Please advise which one to go for..

Thanks

Low light pictures will be unsatisfactory in any P & S cam unless you are willing to invest more money, like the Canon S90 or S95. However, IMO, instead of investing that much on a P&S, it will be better to get an entry level DSLR (if you are ready to accept the bulky form factor, that is). You will have to compromise on low light IQ if you are within a budget (which you have not mentioned, BTW..). Otherwise, the Panasonic TZ8 shines with excellent IQ, and is perfect VFM.

if u are really concerned about low light then i would suggest better to go for Casio Exilim FH100 or Samsung HZ35W which are very good in Indoor

they are the No1 Camera in the compact cam test also chk out

If you can find the just launched HX9V in the grey market ,then go for it.It Has 16x zoom and has the latest much improved Sony EXMOR sensor and has one of the fastest autofocus (as fast as a DSLR.) taking 0.1sec at wide and 0.2sec at tele.It also shoots at 1080p 50/60fps.

Thanks. HX9V seems to be an exciting option but I cant find it anywhere. Slated for a late April launch...
