hey i too get same speeds on my WD 320gig with 16mb cache! whats difference between raptor WD and normal WD? my WD is silver. urs is black.
 
74GB !!!! ... good enough for DOS BOOT disk only :eek:hyeah: ... what about storage space for OS and balance of the stuff ? ... Bottle ...MAN... look around you these are the days of 1TB HDDs !!!!

Waste of money IMHO as 9k = 2x320GB nowadays :p

And then those who have faster HDD's with a DVD writer ;)

And there are people who haven't broken the TB barrier yet, and have a dvd writer, and are begging people for some good blank DVDs :p
 
Its not about the TB's guys... Its about the need... THE NEED FOR SPEED...

P.S. I dont have the balls to buy this... Thats why hats off to him :)

Congrats Bottle, great purchase.

He hasnt optimised his raptors performance.

The burst speed for 1 should be much higher.

Take some pointers from Karan. Hes the only other person with Raptors here :/.

Also, make sure your Windows OS Drive Partition, is on the start of the Hard Disk, most speed there ;)..

i just plugged it in and formatted :p havent done anything yet so far , was sitting in cupboard for more than a month , so thought i'd at least plug it in now

and i think there are quite a few ppl here with raptors if i remember right

Congrate mate. Good on ya for getting the 16mb cache Raptor. I've got a couple of these babies RAID 0'ed for some awesome performance. My b/w jumped from 76 mb/s to 148 mb/s.

F.E.A.R was so so much better to play(I have only 1gb mem...made a mistake. Should have taken 2gb) in RAID with it's constant hdd access during gameplay. You have just speeded up a bottleneck in your system. the results will be quite tangible.

BTW, How do you rate the noise specs on yours? I find that the seeks are a tad too loud on mine esp during benchies.
