CPU/Mobo News - DFI Admits 5Volt Vdimm Problem !!!

Well it wasent unknown.
The 5.5v heats up the entire board. Its known factor and you take this option with the risk of damaging your board if you dont have proper solution.
There is nothing they can do to fix this on current version. Its the PCB thats overheating. And obviously it will when such high voltage are ran through RAM circuitary.
 
Me too........ I guess Darky is the only one capable of using those 5V as he has OCZ VX. But I don't think he has used the full 5V.

LOL! noone is gona push memory to 5v.
What they mean is the 5V line is used to feed VDIMM.
Thats what they are talking about.
Give 5V to even BH-5 and it will blow :P
 
Its not that there are options upto 5V for Vdimm, the max is 4V.
Normally motherboards derive power for the RAM from the 3.3v line, but once you start using the higher volts upto 4V, your board starts drawing its power from the 5v line instead. Thats what they mean.
