Hi,
From the past few days I am facing a strange issue. I will describe it in very minute detail so that people can actually suggest something to resolve the issue.
My config :
i7 920 D0
GA X58A-UD3R
8GB DDR3 ram
GTX 480
TX850W
I was running Win 8 CP, but due to som,e compatibility issues with some apps had to reinstall Win 7 x64 SP1.
This problem started few days back after i installed Win 7. Problem is that sometimes after showing the Starting Windows screen all I get is No Signal from my TV (LG 32LD460). The HTiB connected to the PC dopes play the Windows logon audio. So this indicates that the OS is booting up and goes to the desktop.
The problem goes away on its own after a few reboots (how many reboots is dependant on my luck ).
The investigation done on ths issue :
When the issue started I was using 301.42 WHQL drivers and MSI Afterburn 2.2.1.
After observing that the issue was persisting I uninstalled 301.42, ran driver sweeper and then installed 301.40 (beta drivers). Things did look good for sometime but the same problem surfaced. The problem goes away as soon as I uninstall the drivers. Overlock or no OC, the problem does not depend on that. Stress tested the GPU at stocks, no issues at all.
I scanned the event viewer for tell tale signs of failure.
All I got was DCOM failures. Checked WMI, COM and DCOM (ran sfc /scannow and wmidiag) and everything was ok on that front.
Never had this problem on Win 8. Currently downloading Win 8 Preview. Will install that and see what happens.
So what do you guys think? Is it pointing to a hardware failure?
Thanks for reading through such a long post.
