Nokia 5230 VS Samsung Star Wifi

I am about to purchase a new phone and was wondering which one to go for.

I am leaning more towards the star since
1>Wifi
2>Better Camera

Whereas the 5230 has Symbian so more apps.

Which one do you think is a better option. I need a phone for day to day use so the Star which comes with a flip cover installed is pretty cool.

Also since both of these use resistive touch screen I was wondering whether getting a corby would be better since I would be using my fingers and would prefer not using the stylus.

One Last thing I would like to know a bit about these iphone clones available on ebay like Sciphone i9+ how reliable are these ?
 
Don't go for Chinese crap...5230 and Star...both are good phone..but you won't get new application for Star as it runs on Samsung proprietary OS...i personally recommend 5230 :)
 
Do you recommend the 5230 just because of the apps available I think Wifi is quite an important feature and at that price I think its a must have.
 
i own a star. brought just 2 weeks ago..camera is nothing but vga !! (YES) quality. it has other limitations too..3.2 meg only in paper..

i dont know abt nokia's 5230 hear that its only 2 megs(!!!!)

in java/pc suite application samsung just @##!#..

but with a bright responsive touch screen (though nokia better in paper) its great.i am waiting 4 a 5230 review..

and at last>>> dont make ur mind by others words try 2 cmp real time..because i hear that 5230's sound quality(ringtone,loudspeaker) 2 low 2 hear..right now thats da consolation 2 me..

Both the phones are good. Now, depending on the features you want in your phone, you can decide yourself which of the two is good for your needs.
I will also buy one of these phones this week, and I find nokia 5230 good for me.
 
i personally looked at samsung star wifi before buying nokia 5230.
Samsung star picture quality was crap.I agree with dips_view here.Its nowhere near the quality of a 3.2megapixel camera. :no:
Nokia was average quality for 2 megapixels.
I liked the UI of the nokia better.
Ultimately your choice.
5230 or star wifi?;)
 
dud try comparing the video taken by samsung and nokia...........

samsung is crap...

dude i m telling u ...go for 5230 its only 7.8k in univercell.in

its got 3g,gps,moreover its a smart phone........

one of the coolest thing is..even though its has only 2mp camera it records video at 30fps

Except for wifi, 5230 is better in everything else. reports sAy that it has superb audio quality. Go for 5230 and get decent pair of headphones
 
Nokia 5230 without a doubt... it has 3G, GPS and the MP3 player has iphone 3 GS esque audio qulaity.... its beats most of the dedicated audio players when it comes to music quality.
Another plus with Nokia is reliability.... its much much more robust when compared to Samsung.
 
Dude... first sort out .. do you want a phone WHICH MUST HAVE WI-FI ...... if yes .. star ... if not .. then 5230 eyes-closed .. no second thoughts .. i wanted everything .. so im going for 5800 ..!!!! ;)
 
I have my 5230 in my hand and my colleague sitting beside me is having the Star. First thing, Samsung has proprietary OS, so you cannot a gamut of apps, while Nokia has Symbian, so more apps. Second, 5230 has no Wifi while Star has. Nothing great though. Though the lappies show full signal strength, this is not powerful enough to get good signal strength.

Camera wise, due to the large display size and 2MP cam, the pictures look slightly grainy on the 5230 while the Star has 3.2MP and a slightly smaller screen, the picture looks better, but actually it is not as good as it is on the phone shows it

UI is much better on the 5230. Kinetic scrolling FTW!! :hap2: I have never liked Samsung's UI. It SUCKS!!

Dude .. the kinetic really works ?? i tried the 5530 .. cudnt realise anything called KS ... i dint even feel any difference .. it was just slim .. powerless speakers .... and i also tried its accelerometer .. was not so efficient .. i dint like it .. :(
 
I dont understand why people even consider some :@ samsung :@ shit (no offence) when there is a GREAT Symbian OS in 5230 @ absolutely Excellent pricing

Most of them get drooled by stupid factors like 3.2mp wifi etc...
I always pity on their ignorance

Not sure about the 5530. It hasn't got great reviews anyway. Regarding the KS, you didn't find any difference with respect to which phone? Being the XpressMusic phone, it should have got good speakers, but Nokia decided to confuse and dupe the customers and people end up buying just because it has th XpressMusic tag and Wifi. Too bad........
