hello guys, using a nokia e71 for the past 6 months. . In the begining the charge used to last for about 3 days of normal usage ( making /receiving calls/ messages and rare bluetooth transfers from pc to moby and vice versa).

For the past 2 months, m facing power issues. The charge lasts only for a day. And sometimes even when there are 6 or 5 power bars the phone switches off. When i switch on teh fone there is only 1 power bar left. I think there is an issue with the battery. It is bot in Dubai.

What do u think guys ?. phone or the battery - which is the culprit ?.

From the begining itself i have switched off WLAN, bluetooth is in hidden mode, using only the nokia theme. I have installed softwares like call recorder, adobe pdf, timer, core player, calculator, resco viewer, lcg jukebox, msdict and xplore and guardian anti theft software.
these softwares were installed on the begining itself and the fone was working fine with these software installed for about 4 months (though very rarely the above issue occurs during that time)

I havent used the fone for browsing, email , etc etc. Just will be using the above apps whenever needed . Thats it.

But now the charge comes for a max of 1 day. Do i have to RMA the battery / phone or both ?. plz advice.

changing the battery wont solve ur problem

anyway there are a few tips which will increase your battery life

switch to gsm

turn the wlan off when not used

check how many apps you have open and close the ones not used

notification light off

power saver to none

packet data connection to when needed

light time out under 20 sec

light sensor to middle

and many more

good luck

ya have performed all the steps before opening this thread. But initially, the charge lasted for 3 days during which the only thing i did was WLan off.
Ok will try it. But are u sure this is not a phone /battery issue which i suspect to be ?

What exactly did yo mean by Bluetooth in hidden mode?

Was the bluetooth turned on or off?
Even if the bluetooth is in hidden mode, if it is on, it will consume battery.

its bot in dubai so cant take to service. Bluetooth is turned on and hidden so that other bT devices cant find my handset.

I guess they will not honour warranty but theres no reason that you can't take it to nokia and have them check it

edit : as hotshot mentioned try turning bt off and check if it improves battery life

and 2ndly try buying a new battery , wont be much and if it doesent work out , u havea spare original battery , ive gone to a nokia priority care centre and trust me , these idiots dont have a clue on how to work , in front of me ive seen customers ( who have paid for their repairs) come back for 3-4 times for the same issue.

ive been there like 7-8 times just to get my phone screen changed ( which was under warranty)
most of their replies are like , sir u mustve dont some bad transfers and the software is corrupt , thats causing the issue , ir better off without going to them and letting them drain your money.

nokia will charge u as the phone was bought out of india, but atleast you would have the peace of mind that the phone would be repaired by authorised people. Take it to the service center asap!
