Hi,

Few weeks back, I made a rar file of all backups at work and send it to myself on yahoo mail. Now I am trying to download that rar file but it is giving an error on every browser, on phone and in different pc's

The Yahoo mail app in phone also says that cannot download the attachment. I tried to forward this mail to gmail etc. but it bounces saying security error. The backup files contain an .exe file also which is a work related software and definitely not a virus but it seems that Yahoo is now treating it like a virus. I need that rar file very urgently. I have done the same in the past with no issues at all. What should I do?

Thanks

Try downloading it using POP or IMAP email client like thunderbird or outlook on your PC.

Usually, when emailing the exe, you should either change the file extension or encrypt your rar.

Haven't used Yahoo in ages but I always archive the file with zero compression and encrypt it with password if it is anything other than a document or image. Not sure what you can do now but try opening it on a desktop browser and trusting the sender if the sender ID is not in your contacts.

Sender is my yahoo mail to the same yahoo mail. The error posted in the op is from Firefox. It shows same error in a phone browser.

Similar issue indicates it to be a local antivirus or browser add-on issue, so what you can try is to disable the antivirus temporarily and use another browser on PC without any extensions.

Unfortunately getting same error in chrome in a new system without any extensions. I think the inbuilt security measures are stopping it from getting downloaded.

Same issue bro :( Any other alternative?

Disable antivirus. Open windows security. Disable virus & threat protection, App & browser control, device security.
And try again.

I think your attachment has virus. After downloading the attachment, get it scanned on virustotal.

Already done but same result. The browsers are not allowing it somehow.
No virus, I am 100% certain. Foxpro ki exe file hai bhai along with some backups.
Try doing it in Android/iPhone in different browsers and in the official app. Something might work.
Doesn't work, have tried in phone and have shared the results in previous posts.

I don't know what more can you do. Maybe forward it to another email apart from yahoo and gmail.
Or maybe contact yahoo.

Not getting forwarded to any mail ID. I am pretty sure that Yahoo is detecting it as virus or something.
How to contact Yahoo? These companies don't have support for Indian users.
