I purchase xps1330 couple of days back. Going by the tips from 'few' members here who supposedly had contacts on the inside. I opted for the nVidia discreet gfx.
According to reliable information on TE and also pre-sales people this issue had been resolved a while back and the manufacturing defect has been rectified by nvidia.
WRONG!
I purchased XPS1330 through EPP (through my friend, I got complete 3year cover almost free of cost).
Within, 1 hour of unboxing of the product I ran video intensive apps and it started crashing. I left it running 3D Mark/Video Stress test for 2hr and monitored temperature through SpeedFan.
Ambient temperature 19degree C
GPU
On IDLE -- 65degree C
On Full Load -- 90d to 102degree C
CPU 35-46d C
HDD 28-36d C
Needless to say, this is insane! Rs 68,124 machine [:'(]
I called up the customer support, they say we can't refund because it is purchased under EPP. We can't replace just the mobo with the Intel one. What we can do is try and repair it.
Yeah right! repair! I don't want to waste my time sending it back to them every second week. Everyone knows one day the h/w is bound to fail with those green-rainbow lines that you see before it dies.
I want this defective GPU chip motherboard to be replaced with Intel GMA/onboard motherboard. If, this is not possible, I want COMPLETE refund. I would then go for fresh Order with the inferior Onboard gfx based config.
Can some one throw light on this EPP policy?
What can be done? I know DELL takes all these kind of customer satisfaction issues very seriously. Therefore, any ideas?
